Gareth Cirket is a professional guitarist, bassist, and music educator based in Newport Pagnell, Milton Keynes. A graduate of the prestigious Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM Guildford) with both a Higher Diploma and Degree in music, Gareth combines performance experience at the highest level with over a decade of dedicated teaching expertise.
Performer & Session Musician
Since graduating in 2011, Gareth has built a varied career as a performer. He has played with numerous function bands across the UK—including his current group, Got You Covered—and toured both the UK and Europe with original projects such as The Final Chapter. His experience spans theatre productions (A Chorus Line), session recordings for bands like Khamani and Togmor, and collaborations with companies such as Flattley Pedals.Through one of these bands he made contact with guys at VOX amplifiers and has been doing guitar shows for them since. One of them was the London Olympia Guitar show 2014 along side the famous Jerry Donahue. He has done many in store demos around the country. Also doing jobs for "Takemine" guitars along the way.
Through his live work, Gareth connected with VOX Amplifiers and has represented them at major guitar shows and in-store demos nationwide, including the London Olympia Guitar Show (2014) alongside Jerry Donahue. He has also worked with Takamine Guitars, showcasing his versatility as a professional musician.
Educator & Author
Alongside performing, Gareth has a passion for teaching. He provides private guitar and bass tuition as well as lessons in schools across the region, with a proven track record of exam success—99% pass rate, with 85% achieving merit or distinction.
Drawing on this experience, he created the Modern Guitar for Kids book series, designed to give young beginners the perfect foundation. Book 1 is available on Amazon and here on his website, with Book 2 currently in development. The series is supported by video lessons on Gareth’s YouTube channel, making learning accessible and engaging for all.
Content Creator & Presenter
Gareth is also a presenter on the popular YouTube channel Britain’s Rare Guitars, dedicated to guitars, amps, pedals, and pro audio gear. The channel has grown into a recognised brand in the guitar community and even developed into a TV pilot series. On his own YouTube channel, Gareth shares a mix of tuition content, original music, and gear demos, inspiring a global audience of players.
Today
Whether performing, teaching, writing, or presenting, Gareth continues to share his passion for guitar and bass with musicians of all ages and levels. His mission is to make learning music structured, inspiring, and fun, while drawing on years of professional experience to guide students on their journey.
